Perth Scorchers : L W W W L
The Sydney Sixers topped the BBL league table, deservingly so, in our opinion, and will now be looking to seal their place in the BBL 10 Final. Standing in their way, the Perth Scorchers who recovered after a horror start to the tournament and finished second.
These are the two best teams in the competition and they fully deserve the extra chance that they are going to get. This is the Qualifier and so the losing team is going to get another chance to make it to the Final. There is nothing to lose really and so the teams can go as hard as they want.
The Sydney Sixers won a very close match against the Melbourne Stars in their previous outing. Dan Christian played the winning hand in the crunch moments, something that he has done many times before. The Sixers will be confident going into this match against the Scorchers.
Their batting is pretty strong and most of the leading batsmen seem to be in good form. James Vince, Josh Philippe, Jordan Silk, and Moises Henriques have all scored runs recently. Also, the Sydney Sixers have scored over 180 in their previous three innings, two of them have resulted in losses, though. There is enough batting firepower to compete with the Perth Scorchers.
The real challenge is going to be in getting the bowling right. Maybe Sean Abbott can provide the edge that the bowling attack has been looking for but we still think it is a bit weak. Ben Dwarshius, Dan Christian, Carlos Brathwaite, and Steve O’Keefe are a decent unit but they have proven to be expensive over the last few matches.
The Perth Scorchers are the most dangerous team in this competition and we believe they have everything needed to win the title. Their batting is filled with power and is never out of the game.
No other team has the six-hitting prowess that it does. Liam Livingstone, Jason Roy, Colin Munro, Mitchell Marsh, Josh Inglis, and Ashton Turner are all extremely dangerous and in good form.
There are times that the aggressive nature of this batting lineup can backfire and we don’t think they do well on slow surfaces but overall, the Perth Scorchers have more firepower than the Sixers for sure.
Jhye Richardson is going to lead the bowling attack. He is back at his best and in the Australian team for their upcoming tour to New Zealand. This is where he can make a real statement about being one of the best bowlers in the country. Andrew Tye, Fawad Ahmed, and Jason Behrendorff are all excellent bowlers as well. Just as the batting, the bowling lineup is stacked as well.
This venue has already hosted 10 matches in the league stage of this BBL season. Out of those 10 matches of this BBL season at this venue, while the first batting sides have managed to defend successfully for thrice, the second batting teams have successfully chased the targets for seven times. As there is a good chance of raining on Saturday, the toss winning captain is most likely to choose field first. Observing the results at this venue in this BBL season, while the 180+ totals are chaseable, 200+ totals can be considered for successful defence.
Weather & Conditions:
According to the weather forecast, there is a chance of rain in Canberra every hour on Saturday. However, while this match will be played after 07:00 PM (local time), it has a lesser chance of raining. While the cricket fans will expect to see the uninterrupted match on Saturday, there is a good chance that rain will cause a crucial interruption in the BBL 10 Qualifier match. The temperature will be around the mark of 27 degrees Celsius.
Based on our toss prediction, the team that wins the toss can choose to bat first according to the weather forecast and pitch condition.
