We are back to where we started the playoffs in the Big Bash League 2020-21. The grand finale of the BBL is to be played between the same teams as the first match of the playoffs. Also, Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers were the two teams that finished at the top of the table and it is quite fitting that these two teams have eventually made it to the last match of the tournament.
We saw in the league stage how dominant these two teams were and given the form they’ve both shown in the recent matches, we expect a mouth-watering encounter. There are multiple variables at play in this match and with stakes running high, the pressure will be immense.
Sydney Sixers earned the right to host the BBL|10 final as they booked their spot with an impressive victory over Perth Scorchers but they will now have to defeat the same team once again if they want to defend their crown.
Perth Scorchers overcame the disappointment of losing their Qualifier clash with Sydney Sixers as they defeated Brisbane Heat in the Challenger contest to gain the opportunity to earn revenge against the Sixers in the final.
Pitch and Conditions:
The weather forecast for Saturday is not as good as everyone would have liked it to be. There are chances of rain hampering the match and just like the challenger match, we might not be able to get the full game in. The surface, on the other hand, is exactly likely to be the way it should for the finale. We expect it to be a sporting wicket with plenty of runs on offer for the set batsmen. Considering that this is a high-pressure game, anything around par score could be considered a good score batting wicket. The team batting first will want to put a total of at least 175 runs here.
Toss Prediction:
We saw in the challenger match how the tables can turn in high-pressure situations. Chasing had been the order of the day for the Heat up until then, but it all changed against the Scorchers. In this upcoming match, we have different teams and different surfaces, but the pressure will be even higher, and runs on the board will matter. Having said that, there are high chances of rain and consequently DLS method coming into the picture. For that reason, the captain winning the toss should be looking to bowl first.
