The Perth Scorchers have bought themselves a little bit of breathing room with a win against the Hobart Hurricanes but they cannot relax just yet. As far as the Melbourne Stars go, they have to try and win both their remaining matches otherwise they could be left short of the points needed to qualify.

The Melbourne Stars are up against a tough ask. Their last two games are against the top-2 teams of the competition right now. As they say, though, to be the best you have to beat the best!

Getting enough runs to win against the strong Perth Scorchers bowling attack is not going to be easy. Nick Larkin and Nic Maddinson have shown some good signs in the past few matches and so hopefully the Stars can bank on them for some runs as well.

Adam Zampa and Zahir Khan are going to be the biggest weapons for the Stars bowling lineup. They should have conditions that suit their bowling and a lineup to bowl at that is not the most comfortable against slow bowling.

The challenge for the Scorchers in this match is going to be to adapt to the conditions. They must find a way to be able to be effective on the slower wicket of the MCG. That is where their batsmen, especially Roy and Livingstone, may have a bit of trouble. Mitchell Marsh has returned but he and Ashton Turner also struggle against the spin.

Pitch Report:

The surface at the MCG is a bit on the slow side. That has been the nature of the wicket for the past few years now and we don’t think that is going to change suddenly.

Weather Conditions:

The conditions in Melbourne are expected to be good for cricket on match-day. There is no run forecast and the sun should be shining throughout.

Toss Prediction:

Winning the toss and batting first is likely to be the plan of action for both teams. We think setting a good total is going to be a big advantage as the pitch will get slower to bat on in the second half.

Melbourne Stars Predicted XIs:

Marcus Stoinis, Andre Fletcher, Nick Larkin, Glenn Maxwell (c), Nic Maddinson, Hilton Cartwright, Seb Gotch (wk), Nathan Coulter-Nile, Adam Zampa, Liam Hatcher, and Zahir Khan

Perth Scorchers Predicted XIs:

Jason Roy, Liam Livingstone, Colin Munro, Josh Inglis (wk), Mitchell Marsh, Ashton Turner (c), Aaron Hardie, Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Jason Behrendorff, and Fawad Ahmed
