Day 3
Narendra Modi Stadium
On day 2 India continued its first innings from 24-1. First session of the day unfortunately was not so good for team India. Rohit Sharma could not complete his half century and succumbed to Ben Stokes at 49. Skipper Virat Kohli even could not open his account and it was again Ben Stokes who sent him back to pavilion.
After the collapse of team India’s top order, Indian middle order looked steady against England bowlers. It was Rishabh Pant, continuing his amazing form and luck from Australia. Pant smashed a century that helped India to make a lead of 89 runs. James Anderson got Pant’s wicket. Rishabh scored 101 off 118 balls. Washington Sundar played a marvelous innings of 60 runs and successfully finished the game of day two with Axer Patel while India reached 294/7.
Absolutely India is in a dominating position till now and would try to make it for at least half of the third day. Talking about England, the bowling attack failed to impress and could not counter Indian batsmen. James Anderson was the man who grabbed three wickets while Ben Stokes and Jack Leach accumulated two wickets for each.
Rishabh Pant, Rohit Sharma, and Washington Sundar’s innings helped to put team India in control of the match. Rishabh Pant’s century was full of entertainment as always it was full of strange and amazing shots. Washington Sundar and Axer PAtel are still on the crease and there are chances that India would get a significant lead by the end of first innings.
England has deftly pulled down from its comfort zone as India has reached at a 100+ runs lead. First session of day 3 began from 294-7.
