ICC Rankings: Virat Kohli Gains 5th Position In Mens’ T20 Rankings

Indian captain Virat Kohli gains 5th place in the T20 men’s rankings by MRF Tyres International Cricket Council (ICC). With the current ratings of 762.

According to ICC rankings https://www.icc-cricket.com/news/2076446 Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are the top Indian batsman who has progressed their ratings after the impressive title victory against England with 3-2.

Virat Kohli claimed his No.5 spot in the ICC T20I rankings for batsmen after two stunning innings against England in the 5-series match. Kohli had been dismissed for 0 in the first match on March 12 but soon closed up the gap to clinch his position in the rankings. His scores of 73 and 77 unbeaten knockouts in the second and third matches of England helped him immensely to gain one extra slot.

Devon Conway of New Zealand is currently ahead of  Kohli in the fourth position slot with a rating of 784. His brilliant unbeaten knockout of 92* Runs in 52 ball innings against Bangladesh helped him to rise up in the rankings ahead of the Indian skipper. Overall Dawid Malan of England tops the charts with 892 ratings.

In the likes of another Indian batsman, Rohit Sharma moved up to 3 places to the 14th position. His brilliant 64 Runs in 34 Balls gifted him the rank. Other than him Shreyas Iyer has moved up to 5 places gaining 26th position.

Rookie batsman Suryakumar Yadav and wicketkeeper Pant also advanced their places in the T20 spot. Yadav who first did not get to play couldn’t get any score. But afterward, he was made to play in the second and the third matches where he scored gained 57 and 32 runs took him to 66th position. Wicketkeeper Rishab Pant moved 11 places to 69th in the rankings

Indian Team Ranking In ODI Charts

In the ODI charts of ICC, Kohli has retained his top spot position. KL Rahul too moved up from 31st to 27th, all-rounder  Hardik Pandya has achieved his career-best 42nd position among all the batsmen after scores of 35 and 64. India medium-pacer Shardul Thakur’s haul of four wickets giving 67 also helped him gain some huge spots in ODI rankings as he climbs to 80th from 93rd.

Kohli, who had scores of 56 and 66 in the first and second ODIs against England, has 870 points in his bag.
