In the 8th match of IPL 2021 on Friday Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings will hustle to gain more points in the points table as there is an uncertainty about the match or the tournament being cut short in their plan due to rising clouds of Covid-19.
Punjab Kings and CSK have played some of the most exciting matches in years gone by and we think we could have another good contest to enjoy this time around. The clash is also one of cultures and ideology. While CSK has opted to stray with its former great performers, some of them at the end of their careers, Punjab Kings has opted to fill its team with some of the most expensive acquisitions in the IPL auction.

Preview for PBKS vs CSK Match
Both sides have had a contrasting start to their IPL 2021 season. While Punjab Kings began their campaign by defeating Rajasthan Royals in a closely contested game. Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand, got thrashed by Delhi Capitals in their first match of the season.
In their first game, Chennai didn’t start off well and lost early wickets which have been their problem since 2020. They need a good start from their openers, Ruturaj and Faf du Plessis. Suresh Raina and Moeen have done a great job and will be aiming for the same kind of performance in their next match. Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran also looked in great form. However, their bowling attack lacks a genuine wicket-taker in the middle overs. The onus will be on Shardul Thakur to lead the pack, with the likes of Deepak Chahar and Ravindra Jadeja also being key to the cause.
Punjab Kings, on the other hand, survived a scare from Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson, who hit a century, in their first match as they held on to win the game by a slim margin of four runs even after having put up 221. Mohammed Shami made a good return to competitive cricket while young Arshdeep Singh showed nerves of steel in the final over against a raging Sanju Samson. They will be eager to build on this set of positives against an experienced Chennai side.
The pitch at the Wankhede Stadium has been a batsman’s paradise. There’s very little for the bowlers to work with. The pitch won’t be changing character and hence, batting second should be the way forward for both teams.
Possible Playing XI
