IPL Auction 2021: Live Updates and Everything You Need To Know

The Retention List and Released list have been announced ahead of the mini auctions by 8 official franchises namely- Chennai Super Kings(CSK), Rajasthan Royals(RR), Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR), Delhi Capitals(DC), Sunrisers Hyderabad(SRH), Kings XI Punjab(KXIP), Mumbai Indians(MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB), on January 20, 2021. As of now, 55 players will be made available for bidding at IPL Auctions.

Chennai Super Kings

CSK was joined by star batsman of Rajasthan Royals in a trade deal held ahead of the auctions, By showing great faith in Suresh Raina who decided to opt-out of the security bubbles in UAE, the player has been retained with the statement ensuring everyone that “they won’t change strategies due to 1 game” The yellow army is also left with many vacancies as fast bowler Harbhajan Singh, Watson, Piyush Chawla, and Kedhar Jadav has been released.

Rumors are strong we might see Glenn Maxwell or Steve Smith playing in the yellow jersey this IPL.

 Rajasthan Royals

Three-time IPL Winners Chennai SuperKings were traded Robin Uthappa from the trade window held ahead of the mini auctions, To everybody’s shock, they also released Steve Smith(Their captain for last year) and appointed Sanju Samson the lead of the team. Releasing a statement in this mater they said that there should be an Indian stronghold of a captain in the team.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Gautam Gambhir of KKR was surprised as per the Star Sports network when his teammate Kuldeep Yadav got retained from the franchise, He expressed his opions to Star Sports network that he was ‘surprised’ because Yadav is in no plans within KKR camps to be played in the future.

The Kolkata Knight Riders franchise also could not make it to the playoffs last season in UAE so they would like to turn tables around in 2021. Pat Cummins would be a key member of the KKR squad and it would be interesting to see how the Victorian is used during the 14th season.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

RCB have released Chris Morris, Moeen Ali, Aaron Finch, Isuru Udana, Shivam Dube, Umesh Yadav, etc. Virat Kohli’s led side RCB has 35.7 crores left in their whole purse IPL 2021. Rumours have been coming from the camp that they will seek to capitalize the biggest names like Maxwell, Tom Baton and Steve Smith this IPL.

 Delhi Capitals

Last season finalist captains have not done much change to their opening squad except changing some overseas players who struggled throughout the season like- Sandeep Lamichhane, Jason Roy, Alex Carey, and Keemo Paul. With Carey gone they might need a specialist gloveman as a replacement to Rishabh Pant. They might also need an overseas player to strengthen the squad with Rabada, Stoinis, etc.

 Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have the throne of IPL for now almost 2 years and they may be on the lookout for overseas players this IPL 2021. Mumbai Indians have released Malinga James Pattinson, Mitchell McClenseven available slots, including four overseas slots. Currently, the reigning champions need one top order batsman, one leg spinner, and some best pacers.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Hyderabad has kept its core intact and has released 5 players in total- Billy Stanlake, Sanjay Yadav, Sandeep, Prithvi Raj, Fabien Allen, Sunrisers have 10.75 crores left in their purses and would look for pacers or opening duo that will boost the rankings.

Kings XI Punjab

Glenn Maxwell released from Kings XI Punjab held all the spotlights ahead of the mini auctions and will likely be top the list of most expensive players this IPL season With the biggest purse in tow and elimination of 9 players from the squad. Punjab has all eyes set towards the auction where they might be considering revamping their squad by appointing some big names such as Steve Smith.

Mumbai Indians – 15.35cr

Sunrisers Hyderabad – Rs 10.75cr

Kings XI Punjab – Rs 53.2cr.
